Life or Death: There is No “Choice”

An expectant mother’s response to endless “pro-abortion” bombardment on social media.

Lately I feel the need to speak up. My facebook feed has been full of pro-life vs pro-choice posts, and shockingly I have seen more than I want of the pro-choice side. These pro-abortion posts have sat heavy on my heart for days. I have taken the top pro-choice arguments and broken them down completely. I don’t ever want to think that my silence kept someone from seeing another side.

 “Just because I am pro-choice doesn’t mean I am pro-abortion.”

This is saying that you are fine with allowing abortion to happen just as long as you are not directly held responsible. There’s a reason political platforms use the term “pro-choice.” It’s because it has a nicer, less threatening tone than what it really is: “pro-abortion.” Do not be deceived by the watered down narrative that pro-choice is something more than pro-abortion. You might consider reading:

Matthew 12:30, “He who is not with Me is against Me,”

Ephesians 6:11, “Put on the full armor of God, so that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil,”

Revelation 3:16, “So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.”

That argument also screams, “I am completely against protecting the life of an unborn child, but I’m ok with someone else terminating that life.” If you are okay with pro-choice but not necessarily pro-abortion then what are you standing on?

“I know it’s wrong, but Christ will forgive me.”

This is a growing narrative in the Christian community and one that boggles my mind! Will Christ forgive you? Absolutely –– with repentance. His grace and forgiveness is for all, no doubt about it. But why would you KNOWINGLY disobey the One who lived and DIED for your sins?!

Try Romans 8:5, “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.” Also James 4:17, “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”

If we have the knowledge of God, we have His Spirit living in us and are commanded to show discernment in what is right or wrong and “sin not.” Why would you knowingly make the wrong choice?

As Christians we are not to be of the world, but of Christ! Also we should read what Paul wrote to the Roman church. Romans 1:32 says, “… That those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also APPROVE of those who practice them.”  That means that whatever you sanction is what you are guilty of yourself. If you sanction abortion then you are as guilty as having one yourself. Are you really ready to stand on a “pro-choice” platform that eases the way for abortions to happen when you know YOU are going to be held accountable for it? Isaiah 45:9 “What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator.” (NLT)

“Because of pro life laws, abortions are more emotionally hard for mothers.”

False. The Constitution is pro-life. Our country was founded on the principle of LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. These “laws” you speak of were added due to “pro-choice” laws. You can thank Roe vs Wade for that, and also the 64.8 MILLION abortions that have been performed since that ruling.

Yes, most states do demand you wait a time period of around 48 hours before you can abort. So let me ask you this: “What is the difference between Ted Bundy and an unborn child?”

Sounds ridiculous right? Ted Bundy murdered 30+ women. He was a menace to society. An unborn child has done nothing wrong. So why did Ted Bundy have to wait 10 years before he was executed, yet people are outraged at waiting 48 hours before terminating an innocent life? It’s a travesty that known mass murderers are processed, tried before a jury, convicted, appealed, appealed again, and then put to death after years of debate, but to end an innocent life only needs one signature and 48 hours.

And let’s not even get started on the differences between these deaths; Lethal injections versus late term abortion where the child is either dismembered –– DISMEMBERED –– or has a suction used to suck the brain and spinal fluid out of its body while in the vaginal canal. Have we become such a corrupt nation that we have more mercy on a serial killer than a baby? Proverbs 6:16-17, “These six things the Lord hates, Yes seven are an abomination to Him; a proud look; A lying tongue. Hands that shed INNOCENT blood...”

“I don’t want the government to tell me what to do with my body.”

This argument is so full of irony I almost can’t stand it. Funny that this is the leading argument when for months the government has been telling you to wear a mask, social distance, don’t leave your homes, etc., and most people followed along hook, line, and sinker. “But wearing a mask protects others” they say. Yes, and being pro-life protects a child. If you are concerned with protecting others from sickness, aren’t you more concerned with protecting a life?

“It’s not even a life yet.”

Let’s do some research. I studied the heart for over 8 years, and if you do any research in this area you will learn that a baby has a heart at 3 weeks gestation. That means when the mother first finds out that she is pregnant, that child has a heart.

“Well if it’s not beating, then it isn’t alive.” Wrong! If it isn’t alive, then how could it continue to grow? Growth is the essence of life!

According to their logic, the fetus is not considered a living thing until there is a heartbeat. However, someone which has no life does not have living cells. Life has living, functioning cells. A fetus, from conception, has LIVING, functioning life at a cellular level which is why it continues to grow! It’s very basic science. The fact that a Doppler ultrasound cannot detect a heartbeat until 5 weeks does not mean that the child is lifeless. Life is life! Also might I share some of my favorite verses on this subject:

Psalm 139:13, “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.”

Psalm 139:16, “Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.”

Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.”

Job 10:11-12, “You clothed me with skin and flesh, and knit me together with bones and sinews. You have granted me life and favor…”

I write all of this to help those who maybe are pro-life just because they’ve always been pro-life and don’t have an explanation. And hopefully give some insight to those who are on the fence.
