A House Divided

by Mark Armstrong

Can you think of any time in our lifetimes when the nation has been outwardly divided to this degree? Lately the sentiment is that anyone who’s ever violated a sacrament of political correctness should be fired from their job, publicly scorned by media, and hounded from visible society to live out their lives in universal shame. This is the punishment identified for President Trump, and it goes double for anyone brave enough to admit they ever supported him. Unless of course they’ve repented in sackcloth and ashes, owned up to their own bigotry, racism, misogyny, “homophobia,” and sought redemption for having been generally deplorable. Oh, almost forgot. The basket of deplorables is irredeemable!

It’s almost funny how those busiest burning the reputations of others are themselves transgressors of the ever-evolving neo-Puritan morality.

Turns out that “black-face” is the ultimate crime. Nobody seems to know why, but we’re told that it’s a sign of racism that deeply offends, maybe even “triggers” people “of color.” We’re also learning that attempting the famous moon-walk dance is in the same category. I’m not sure if I was the only one who laughed so hard I nearly rolled across the floor when the governor of Virginia looked around during his press conference to see if there was enough room to demonstrate his mastery of the “moon walk” before his wife intervened, saying it would be “inappropriate” under the circumstances. Has some able body not stood in front of a full length mirror and tried?

Even the conservative commentators pump out these stories with audible outrage. It’s just so insensitive! They can’t believe that the governor won a contest in his earlier years with the shoes, single white glove and a little shoe polish on his face! (Governor Northam said, “I don’t know if you’ve ever tried this…I only used a little, ‘cause you can’t get that stuff off.”) Oh, he’s not taking this seriously.

Neither are we. His late-term abortion statements? Now that we take  seriously. And he’s a pediatrician! His license to practice medicine should be revoked and he ought to have to try to explain his utter lack of conscience. But the mainstream media isn’t interested in why a pediatrician would consider ending the life of a live-born baby. They’re too busy fighting off the vapors about some skit.

It turns out that A WHOLE BUNCH of these self-righteous enforcers (big names) of evolving morality have themselves indulged in similar behavior. If they live up to their accusations and criticisms maybe they’ll all retire from public life and the world will be a better place.

CNN’s prime-time anchor wore his unmistakable pout as he questioned why Gladys Knight would agree to sing the National Anthem for the 2019 Super Bowl, wondering aloud whether accepting the gig might damage her career. She defended her decision with professional grace and later delivered a heartfelt performance before millions of grateful American patriots. Thank goodness there’s an entertainer like her who loves the country and is thankful for it. After having wrecked the NFL, is the lynch mob going to try to besmirch the National Anthem too? No doubt they will.

The American mainstream “news” media scorns President Trump for daring to contradict the suddenly infallible intelligence community. DNI official Dan Coats made a point of saying that Iran has no immediate interest in the production of nuclear weapons, contrary to the President’s publicly declared concerns and Iran’s incessant boasts. Coats’ congressional testimony came only one day before it was widely reported that Iran had shipped 30 tons of yellow-cake uranium to its Itstahan enrichment facility. Meanwhile, Chuck Schumer advised intelligence officials to conduct an “intervention” on President Trump and the television panels went wild over the supposed outrage of a U. S. president disagreeing with “his own” intelligence officials. Earth to mainstream, this is hardly the first time it has ever happened. Remember? The Iraq war was blamed by media and numerous politicians on faulty intelligence over weapons of mass destruction. In that case the intelligence may have been right.

One more thing. After having endured the past two years of breathless bombshells, accusing the most patriotic president since Ronald Reagan of being “Putin’s puppet,” a Russian asset, a liar, racist, bigot, we should remember one thing. It was the “intelligence” (and law enforcement) community that helped cook up the “insurance policy” to prevent President Trump from governing. Why would he not have complete confidence in their conclusions? Hate to break it, but they’re not and never have been infallible. Until recently we couldn’t have imagined that they are not only fallible, but corrupt to the core. For the sake of the survival of our nation we hope and pray that the veil be lifted and the masses be shown the truth.

After all this time, and after we’ve seen the litany of revelations that confirm what we’ve known for over a year now, there is still hope that someday while we yet draw breath the FAKE NEWS crowd will finally have to admit their folly. But we’re not holding our breath.
